Abena’s Hydrocolloid Dressing is an adhesive wound contact dressing. It absorbs wound fluid and provides a moist environment which supports the body’s healing process and promotes autolytic debridement (removal of necrotic material from the wound) without damaging new tissue. Hydrocolloid Dressings act as a barrier to the wound against bacterial, viral, and other external contamination, which help minimize the potential of exposure to nosocomial or infectious agents. All Hydrocolloid Dressings may be used alone or in combination with other wound care products as directed by your healthcare professional.

  • ADHESIVE LAYER : Features polymers which enhance the dressing’s ability to contain wound exudate by forming a cohesive gel. When saturated with exudate, the level of adhesion to the wound is reduced, allowing easy removal.

  • Step 1 : Carefully clean the wound and its surrounding area with sterile water or saline solution and dry the surrounding skin gently.
  • Step 2 : Select the right size of dressing for the wound area. Carefully open the sterile pouch to remove the dressing inside.
  • Step 3 : While avoiding contact with the adhesive area, carefully pry open the two protective plastic films from the pad side of the dressing.
  • Step 4 : Center the dressing over the wound, all the while avoiding contact with the sterile adhesive area, then gently smooth into place.
