Does the Companion ONE or PLUS have reverse?

No, the Companion line of Power Assist does not have power reverse. The user can manually push their wheelchair in reverse while holding onto the handlebars to steer.

My patient/client may have a slower reaction when at high speed. Can we reduce the speed?

Yes, on the Companion One we can cap the 2nd and/or 3rd speed. On the Companion Plus, the speed settings are programable. Include this request in the notes when placing an order.

Why is the Companion wheel overspinning?

Avoid over spinning the front/power wheel. Always start at speed 1 and avoid fully turning the throttle too quickly. Instead, apply gradual pressure, increasing the speed as needed. Leaning forward when going uphill will increase wheel traction.
If the Companion wheel is over spinning in the starting position even when starting slow and leaning forward, consider adjusting the balance of your chair, to shift the center of gravity (CG) forward, by a) moving the big/back wheels backward or b) shifting the seat panel forward.

The diameter of the camber tube in my RIGID chair is 2 inches. Can Companion be installed?

By default, the Companion is shipped with a set of clamps that can be mounted on crossbars and camber tubes 1-inch or 1 ¼-inch. If your wheelchair uses a 2-inch camber tube, please contact us to have yours shipped with alternative clamps.

Can the Companion (ONE or PLUS) be installed in a 12-inch wide frame pediatric chair (rigid or folding frame)?

The Companion line of Power Assist comes with multiple points of adjustability, allowing for the installation onto pediatric chairs as small as 12-inch wide frames. All the adjustments can be reversed/re-adjusted when/if the child changes chairs.

How To Change the tires and/or brake pads?

This video, demonstrates how to change the tire and brake pads using the custom Companion Tire Changing Tool.

My patient/client has limited dexterity in her/his wrists and fingers and can not operate the throttle and brakes. Do you have a solution for quads?

Yes, we have a solution for quads. Please contact us at (866) 563-6812 for more information, options, and prices.
