Simpurity Alginate dressing are based on brown seaweed. The products are made of soft calcium alginate fibers that are shaped into pads (fibrous mats) or ropes (twisted fibers). Simpurity Alginate dressings are highly absorbent and can conform to the shape of a wound. When packed into a wound, the alginate reacts with the exudate to form a soft gel that keeps the wound moist and promotes healing. The dressings' release of calcium ions can stimulate prothrombin and improve hemostasis. Simpurity Alginate dressings are intended to have high wet tensile strength and be easily removed or irrigated from the wound bed. This feature facilitates dressing changes and saves time for both the patient and the healthcare provider. Simpurity Alginate dressings are available in a variety of sizes.
