Administration
Young children or individuals with underlying medical conditions, febrile illness, dysentery, significant diarrhea, persistent vomiting, or changes in mental status should undergo medical evaluation to determine whether oral rehydration is appropriate.
For Infants and Young Children: In alignment with guidance from pediatric health authorities, infants and children without dehydration may continue age-appropriate diets during diarrheal episodes. Mild dehydration may be managed with measured oral rehydration volumes following physician recommendations based on weight, fluid loss, and clinical condition.
Nursing infants should continue breastfeeding on demand. Formula-fed infants may resume feeding following rehydration as directed by healthcare professionals. Lactose-free diets are rarely required after diarrhea.
For Older Children and Adults: Enfamil Enfalyte is suitable for all ages. Older children and adults may continue their regular diets while maintaining hydration during gastrointestinal upset.
Intake should be adjusted based on clinical status, usual water consumption, and healthcare professional guidance.
Enfamil Enfalyte in Conjunction with Other Fluids: During severe fluid losses requiring intravenous therapy, Enfamil Enfalyte may be administered orally to supplement total fluid intake under medical supervision. Once regular foods are tolerated, Enfalyte volumes may be reduced accordingly.
WARNING: Do not mix with infant formula, milk, fruit juices, or other electrolyte-containing liquids. Not for parenteral (I.V.) use.
CAUTION: This product should be used only as directed by a healthcare professional. If vomiting, fever, or diarrhea continue beyond 24 hours, consult a medical provider.
