Description

Melgisorb Plus Calcium Alginate Dressing is a sterile, highly absorbent dressing designed for wounds that exude moderately to heavily. It is composed of calcium sodium alginate fibres that, when in contact with wound exudate, form a soft, moist gel. This gel adds to the wound's moist healing environment while also absorbing huge amounts of exudate and having haemostatic properties. It is soft and pliable, can be cut to shape, and is simple to use. It does not stick to the wound bed, making removal painless and trauma-free.

Features:

  • Highly absorbent Dressing makes it appropriate for wounds that flow heavily.
  • Non-adherent: Does not stick to the wound bed, making it easy to remove without inflicting more damage to the wound.
  • Moist healing environment: Facilitates wound healing by generating a moist healing environment.
  • Conformable: It is soft and conformable, making it easy to apply to wounds of any size or shape.
  • Can be cut to shape.
  • Latex-free.

Indications: Intended for a wide range of moderately to heavily exuding wounds, both infected and non-infected, such as:

  • pressure sores,
  • venous and arterial ulcers,
  • diabetic ulcers,
  • postoperative wounds,
  • dermal lesions and other external wounds inflicted by trauma.

Contraindications:

  • Not indicated for dry wounds, third-degree burns or surgical implantation.
  • Not suitable on heavily bleeding wounds.

Directions to use:

  1. Select a size of dressing that is slightly larger than the wound. Pull the package open.
  2. Apply a dry Melgisorb Plus product to the moist wound bed.
  3. Cover and secure Melgisorb Plus with an appropriate secondary dressing.

For Shallow wounds: Choose the correct size of flat dressing to be able to cover the entire wound. For Deep wounds & cavities: Cut the appropriate length of the cavity dressing and pack the wound loosely.

  • Do not reuse. If reused performance of the product may deteriorate, cross contamination may occur.
  • Do not re-sterilise.
