Instructions

• Close the side access port.
• Attach the enteral administration set connector to the straight arm of the Y extension set and prime.
• Attach Y-set‘s distal ENFit Connector to the feeding tube.
• To irrigate, aspirate, or administer medications, stop formula administration and close the administration set clamp.
• Irrigate, aspirate, or administer medications via feeding tube through the access/side port of the Y-set using an enteral ENFit syringe
  • Vigorous pressure should not be used during irrigation.
  • It is recommended that the feeding tube be flushed with water whenever formula administration is interrupted and before and after medication administration.
  • To assist with the prevention of feeding tube blockage, irrigate routinely – every four hours or per facility protocol.
• After use, close the access port and open the administration set tubing to allow formula flow.
• The Y-extension set is recommended to be changed every 1-2 weeks. If washing is desired, use soap and warm water, then rinse thoroughly.

Interconnectability to Non-Enteral Medical Devices

ENFit satisfies the ISO standard (80369) for small-bore enteral devices. However, ENFit-designed connectors cannot overcome all medical misconnections, and certain connector types of the following may present potential misconnections to ENFit connectors. These may be:

• Suction Exit & Saline Installation Ports on Endotracheal Suction Systems
• Respiratory circuit filtration connectors
• Oxygen tubing connectors (as on Manual Resuscitation Devices)
• IV Solution Bag spike port (such as NaCl, Ringer's Solution, etc.)
• Pericardiocentesis Kit sample/drain port
• Peritoneal Dialysis Manifold Set Connectors
• Cones & sockets of ISO 5356-1:2004 & ISO 5356-2:2004
• Temperature sensor connectors & mating ports of ISO 8185:2007
• Oxygen nipples as defined in EN 13544-2:2002

Note: Use or misuse of a Y-extension set may lead to infrequently occurring factors, including aspiration or airway obstruction, contamination, delays or insufficient medication or nutrition, tissue irritation or necrosis, allergic reaction, or patient discomfort.

Warning: Not for IV use. For enteral use only. Not for infusion of parenteral solutions. Male-ended syringes are not compatible with this product.
