Steps and Levels?
A. The standard Big Button offers two modes:
- Single Message Mode for one 48-second message
- Tap-to-Talk Mode, which plays one of up to three 24-second
messages based on the number of button taps.
The Big Button with Steps and Levels adds more flexibility:
- Steps Mode lets you record up to 3 activities, each with 10 six
second steps
- Levels Mode stores 10 different messages that remain consistent
until changed
It also features an LCD screen for tracking steps and levels.
Q. How many messages can the Attainment Company Big Button record and store?
A.
- The basic Big Button records up to three messages in tap-to-talk mode.
- The Big Button with Steps and Levels can store up to 40 messages, 3
activities × 10 steps (in Steps Mode), 10 individual messages (in Levels
Mode)
Each step or message has a 6-second limit, except for one level that allows
14 seconds.
Q. How does the tap-to-talk mode work on the Big Button?
A. In tap-to-talk mode, the device plays a message based on how many times
the button is tapped, one button tap plays the first message, two taps play the
second, and three taps play the third.
Q. Can I change just one message without deleting the others on Big Button
AAC device?
A. Yes, you can update individual messages or steps without affecting the
rest. For example, if you're editing a daily routine, you can re-record just
Step 5 of an activity—no need to re-record the full sequence.
Q. Does the Big Button AAC Device require special batteries or charging?
A. No special charger is needed. The Big Button AAC runs on two AAA
batteries, which are included in the package. It’s a battery-operated device, so
there's no need for cords or outlets.
Q. Can this assistive communication device be mounted for stability?
A. Yes, the Big Button features both a threaded insert and keyhole slots for
secure wall or table mounting. It also has nonskid rubber feet to prevent
slipping during tabletop use.
