Biostep Collagen Matrix Dressing with Silver is used to treat wounds. It is created from a natural collagen matrix and contains silver, which has antibacterial characteristics. The dressing acts as a scaffold for cellular migration and promotes the formation of new tissue in the wound, whereas the silver helps to prevent infections. The collagen matrix and silver work together to generate an optimal healing environment for wounds and can be applied to a wide range of wound types, including burns, traumatic wounds, and chronic wounds. The dressing is simple to apply and remove, and it can be cut to fit the wound.

Indications:

• Pressure ulcers (pressure injuries)
• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Venous ulcers and mixed vascular ulcers
• First- and second-degree burns
• Donor or graft sites, abrasions, dehisced surgical wounds, traumatic wounds healing by secondary intention.

Contraindications:

• Not to be used on third-degree burns.
• Known allergy or sensitivity to porcine collagen, silver, or any component of the dressing.

How to Use:

1. Preparation : Cleanse (irrigate) the wound bed and debride any non-viable tissue.
2. Application : Cut the dressing to match the wound's size exactly. If the wound is dry or has minimal exudate, you may need to moisten the wound bed to start the gelling process. For heavily exuding wounds, apply directly without pre-wetting.
3. Secondary dressing : Cover Biostep Ag with a suitable secondary dressing to hold it in place and absorb excess fluid.
4. Monitoring & Change : Change dressing as often as needed per wound condition and exudate. It can be left for up to 6 days in many cases. When removing, do so gently, especially around newly formed tissue to avoid damage.

Precautions:

• Use under supervision if used under compression therapy.
• For external use only.
• Use only once (single patient use).
• Minimize contact with the intact skin around the wound edges as silver may stain or irritate.
