Important note: The Attachment Bracket Kit is designed for use in vehicles that do not have LATCH. The Chamberlain must be installed with LATCH or with the Attachment Bracket kit. All Vehicles 2003 and newer are equipped with LATCH in at least two rear seating positions, so there should be no installation issues for these vehicles and the Attachment Bracket will not be necessary. Many 2000 – 2002 models also have LATCH (See your vehicle owner’s manual to verify if LATCH is present).
For vehicles without LATCH, the attachment bracket can only be used on vehicle seats that you can slide a ruler, or similar object, from the backside of the vehicle seat through the crack in the vehicle seat (where the seat bottom and seat back come together) through to the front side of the seat. This can usually be done in mini-vans and SUVs. Generally, the Attachment Bracket cannot be installed in the back seat of sedans. Installation of the Attachment Bracket Kit does require that a hole be drilled through the vehicle’s floorboard.

FAQs
FAQs
Q. What makes the Chamberlain vehicle
positioning system safer for person with special needs?
A.
The Chamberlain system uses a secure positioning vest and torso support
to keep the rider upright and properly aligned during travel. It keeps
the seat belt in the correct shoulder position, reducing the risk of
slouching or belt misplacement that could cause discomfort or injury.
Q. Who can use the Chamberlain vehicle
positioning system?
A.
The Chamberlain system fits a wide range of users, supporting body weights from 81 to 225 lbs, making it suitable for both children and adults needing secure postural support while traveling.
Q. How to choose the right Chamberlain vest size
for proper fit?
A.
Select a size based on your rider's chest and belly measurements:
- Small: chest 25" to 32", belly under 32"
- Medium: chest 30" to 37", belly under 37"
- Large: chest 35" to 44", belly under 44"
Picking the correct size ensures stable support and comfortable positioning during travel.
Q. How does the Chamberlain install in a
standard vehicle?
A.
It attaches directly to the vehicle's LATCH system found in most 2003
and newer vehicles. For cars without LATCH, the Attachment Bracket Kit
can be used if the seat allows access through the seat crack. No
separate base is required—the occupant sits directly on the vehicle
seat.
Q. What helps prevent slouching or forward
leaning during travel?
A.
The system includes an anti-slouch leg strap and an optional EZ-Up headrest and cap for riders with poor head control. These components help maintain a comfortable, upright posture and prevent the head from falling forward.
Q. What color and material options are available
for the Chamberlain vest?
A.
The vest is offered in Sapphire Blue, Total Camo, Beige Naugahyde, and
Rapunzel Purple, allowing both style and comfort. For warm weather, the
Khaki EZ-Up cap provides a cooler, single-layer design.
Q. Does the system replace a car seat or work
with the vehicle's seat belt?
A.
The Chamberlain does not replace the vehicle seat belt. It's a positioning
system that guides and stabilizes the rider while using the existing seat
belt for primary restraint.
