Description
Chemence 2-Octyl Cyanoacrylate Skin adhesive is a high-viscosity
medical-grade tissue adhesive that closes and protects superficial skin wounds
without the use of traditional sutures or staples. This topical adhesive, made
with 2-octyl cyanoacrylate, establishes a flexible bind around approximated
wound edges, promoting natural healing while protecting the site from
microbiological invasion.
It comes in a one-time use squeezable pen body and applicator, packed in a stiff
PETG blister with a Tyvek top. The applicator consists of a self-puncturing cap
and a soft elastomeric brush, allowing the adhesive to distribute evenly. When
applied to the skin, the liquid has a syrupy consistency and polymerizes in
minutes.
Features:
- Medical-grade 2-octyl cyanoacrylate adhesive: Provides strong, flexible wound closure ideal for low-tension skin wounds.
- Precision applicator tip: Silicone precision tip allows targeted, controlled application with minimal waste.
- High viscosity formula: Ensures reliable placement and reduces unintended flow away from wound edges.
- Clear adhesive: Allows clinicians to visualize placement and coverage during application.
- Rapid bond formation: Polymerizes upon contact with skin moisture to establish cohesive wound closure within minutes.
Benefits:
- Ergonomic design with a non-slip, grooved surface.
- Variable adhesive flow rate under pressure control.
- For easy sight, the activation chamber is clear.
- Adhesive that is 152% more useful than Dermabond Advanced.
- Maximum viscosity.
- Adhesive that dries the fastest.
- Microbiological barrier for 14 days.
Indications:
- It is intended for topical application only to hold closed easily approximated skin edges of wounds from surgical incisions, including incisions from minimally invasive surgery and simple, thoroughly cleansed, trauma-induced lacerations.
- It may be used in conjunction with, but not in place of, deep dermal sutures.
Contraindications:
- Do not use on any wound with evidence of active infection, gangrene, or wounds of decubitus etiology.
- Do not use on mucosal surfaces or across mucocutaneous junctions (e.g. oral cavity, lips), or on skin which may be regularly exposed to body fluids or with dense natural hair, (e.g. scalp).
- Do not use on patients with a known hypersensitivity to cyanoacrylate, formaldehyde or benzethonium chloride.
Directions to use:
- Before using the adhesive, the trauma or wound site needs to be dry and clean. Make sure it is easy to approximate the edges of the wound.
- The pre-assembled Applicator Tip should be tightened onto the pen body in a clockwise motion until it is secure. Once seated, the applicator will puncture the foil membrane inside the pen to release the adhesive.
- Squeeze the pen while holding it horizontally until adhesive appears in the transparent applicator tip.
- Apply exofin Precision Pen to the wound site right away, "painting the surface" with a back-and-forth brushing stroke until it is well coated. If more adhesive is required, squeeze the pen. If more places need glue, go there and do it again.
- Depending on the thickness of the sticky layer, the adhesive should be tack-free about 30 seconds after application. To avoid thick margins that could cause unintentional bond rupture, care should be made to create a smooth, equal layer.
- You can apply a second bandage to the area once the glue has fully polymerized (become non-tacky). Applying a secondary bandage when sticky may cause the adhesive to be removed during bandage removal, potentially leading to wound dehiscence. Therefore, if a secondary bandage is used, DO NOT place it over the adhesive area until it is totally tack-free.
