Description

Cutimed Alginate is a dressing constructed of natural seaweed combined with 20% sodium and 80% calcium. The dressing may absorb as much as twenty times its own weight in exudate thanks to its alginate fibers. Broad wound care performance can be achieved by Cutimed Alginate, which is especially appropriate for shallow wounds, irregularly shaped lesions, deeper wounds that are challenging to dress, and mild to heavily oozing wounds.

Features and Benefits:

  • Not made with natural rubber latex
  • Its hemostatic qualities assist in controlling bleeding.
  • Soft gel lowers dead space by conforming to the wound bed, especially in cavities and deep wounds.
  • One-piece removal is made possible by high wet tensile strength.
  • keeps the surroundings moist, which encourages moist wound healing.
  • Secondary dressing needed.
  • Both side application.

Indications: For moderately to highly exudating wounds, such as:

  • Surface trauma
  • Cavity wounds
  • Pressure injuries
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous leg ulcers
  • Donor sites and post-surgical wounds
  • Suitable for use under compression bandages

How to use:

  • Cut (with sterile scissors) or fold the dressing to fit the wound size and shape
  • Apply directly to the wound bed and loosely fill deep wounds, making sure the dressing will not extend beyond the wound margins
  • Cover and secure with a suitable secondary dressing, such as Hypafix Transparent or Cutimed Hydro L

How to remove: Carefully pull the secondary dressing from the wound bed and dispose of it. Before replacing the dressing, wet it with sterile saline if the wound is dry. Before putting on a fresh dressing, use an appropriate wound cleaner if needed.

Wear time: Depending on the state of the wound, the amount of exudate, and the secondary dressing's saturation, the dressing may remain in place for up to seven days.
