Cutimed Epiona is a sterile, collagen alginate dressing consisting of 90% native bovine collagen and 10% calcium alginate. The collagen fibers utilize an open-pore 3D Matrix Technology with a unique similarity to human dermis. This structure acts as a scaffold that boosts wound healing for wounds that have stalled or have not progressed towards a healing goal.
Features
- Stimulates tissue growth Boosts wound healing in chronic and stagnating wounds and reduces wound size by up to 38%.
- Promotes wound healing Accelerates wound healing, contributing to early patient mobilization and reduced treatment time.
- Easy application Can be cut to size, rolled or folded into the wound bed. If required, several layers can be used. Both-side application possible.
- Helps to stop bleeding Contains native collagen and calcium alginate that supports haemostasis.
Intended Purpose
- Indications: Cutimed Epiona is indicated for the management of full and partial thickness wounds which are free of necrotic tissue, e.g.: diabetic ulcers, venous leg ulcers, pressure injuries, ulcers caused by mixed vascular etiologies, trauma wounds and surgical wounds.
- Wear time: The biologically degradable Cutimed Epiona will be absorbed naturally by the body. After first application, the wound should be treated at intervals of up to 72 hours, depending on the amount of exudate. Cutimed Epiona matrix which has not been absorbed by the body can remain in the wound.
How to use
- Prior to treatment with Cutimed Epiona, dry and necrotic tissue has to be removed.
- After carrying out an enzymatic debridement, the wound should be cleaned carefully with a sterile physiological saline or Ringers‘ solution before Cutimed Epiona is applied.
- To achieve an optimal effect, Cutimed Epiona should be applied directly to the entire wound bed.
- In wounds with little or no exudate, Cutimed Epiona should be moistened with a saline solution or Ringer‘s solution.
- The biologically degradable Cutimed Epiona will be absorbed naturally by the body.
- Cutimed Epiona dressing must be covered with an appropriate secondary dressing in order to maintain a moist wound environment.
- After first application, the wound should be treated at intervals of up to 72 hours, depending on the amount of exudate. Cutimed Epiona matrix which has not been absorbed by the body can remain in the wound.
