Description
Durafiber Ag Gelling Fiber Dressing is a high-performance absorbent antimicrobial gelling fiber dressing for exuding wounds. It combines a highly absorbent non-woven fiber matrix with ionic silver to manage wound exudate effectively while helping to reduce bacterial bioburden. Upon contact with wound fluid, the fibers rapidly form a cohesive, cool gel that conforms closely to the wound bed, supports a moist healing environment, and enables atraumatic one-piece removal.
Features:
- Low risk of fiber shed and dressing residue.
- High wet strength: Cellulose fibers give the dry and gelled matrix built-in structural integrity.
- Ionic silver antimicrobial action: Provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity that may help reduce wound bacterial load and support infection risk management.
- Rapid gelling on fluid contact: Converts into a soft gel upon contact with exudate to absorb excess fluid and lock it away from the wound bed.
- High absorbency: Designed to manage moderate to heavily exuding wounds while maintaining a moist wound-healing environment.
- Conformable gel matrix: Gel conforms intimately to wound contours for optimal contact and coverage.
- Easy one-piece removal: Gelling fiber dressing maintains high wet strength, facilitating atraumatic removal and minimizing trauma to the wound and surrounding skin.
Indications:
- It may be used for the management of partial thickness and full thickness including first and second degree burns.
- Chronic wounds including diabetic ulcers, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and sores (partial and full-thickness).
- Surgical wounds left to heal by secondary intent, traumatic wounds.
- Wounds that are prone to minor bleeding, such as wounds that have been mechanically or surgically debrided; and infected wounds.
Contraindications:
- Do not use on non-exuding wounds.
- Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to silver.
