Exofin Skin Adhesive with Precision Applicator Tip is a medical-grade, high-viscosity 2-octyl cyanoacrylate skin closure adhesive packaged with a precision applicator tip for controlled, accurate application during wound closure procedures. This topical tissue adhesive helps approximate clean skin edges quickly and forms a flexible microbial barrier, making it suitable for closing minor lacerations and surgical incisions where traditional sutures may not be necessary.

Indications:

• It is intended for topical application only to hold closed easily approximated skin edges of wounds from surgical incisions, including incisions from minimally invasive surgery, and simple, thoroughly cleansed, trauma-induced lacerations.
• It may be used in conjunction with, but not in place of, deep dermal sutures.

Contraindications:

• Do not use on any wound with evidence of active infection, gangrene, or wounds of decubitus etiology.
• Do not use on mucosal surfaces or across mucocutaneous junctions (e.g., oral cavity, lips), or on skin which may be regularly exposed to body fluids or with dense natural hair, (e.g., scalp).
• Do not use on patients with a known hypersensitivity to cyanoacrylate or formaldehyde, or benzethonium chloride.

Directions to use:

1. Before applying adhesive, the incision or trauma site must be thoroughly cleaned and dried. Make sure the wound edges are easily approximated.
2. Tighten the pre-assembled Applicator Tip clockwise onto the threaded tube until it is snug and seated. Once seated, the applicator will puncture the tube's foil membrane, allowing the adhesive to pour through.
3. Squeeze the tube's bottom at the "X" while holding it horizontally. Continue moving the glue up the tube until it reaches the clear applicator tip.
4. Begin immediately applying exofin to the wound site. Continue to move the adhesive up the tube while brushing in a back and forth motion "painting the surface" until it is entirely covered. If other spots require adhesive, proceed to those locations and repeat.
5. The adhesive should be tack-free about 30 seconds after application, but this depends on the thickness of the sticky coating. To avoid thick margins that may result in unintended bond breakdown, take care to generate a smooth, even coating of adhesive.
6. Once the adhesive has completely polymerized (non-tacky), you can apply a secondary bandage to the location. If you use a secondary bandage, make sure it is fully tack-free before applying it to the adhesive region. Applying when tacky may cause adhesive loss while removing the secondary bandage, as well as dehiscence of the wound.
