The Blom-Singer Puncture Dilator is a tapered, solid silicone stent that is inserted into the tracheoesophageal (TE) puncture upon removal of the voice prosthesis. Its purpose is to prevent the puncture from closing, prevent leakage of esophageal contents into the trachea during swallowing, and dilate the puncture to ease voice prosthesis insertion. This device can also be placed for longer intervals in emergencies when the voice prosthesis is unavailable.
