Description
Avanos Ballard® 500 Pediatric T Tracheostomy Heat and Moisture Exchanger is designed to support effective airway humidification for pediatric patients with tracheostomies in respiratory and anesthesia care settings. Suitable for both ventilator-dependent and non-ventilator patients, this HME helps retain heat and moisture from exhaled air and returns it during inhalation, supporting consistent humidification during breathing. Its innovative T-shaped design is specifically developed to enhance performance while allowing ease of use in clinical environments.
Engineered with pediatric needs in mind, the Ballard 500 HME features low resistance and minimal dead space to help maintain efficient airflow and patient comfort. The lightweight construction supports ease of handling and reduces added burden at the airway interface. With a standard 15 mm female connector, it is compatible with commonly used respiratory and anesthesia circuits, making it a practical option for routine pediatric tracheostomy care.
Features:
- Pediatric Tracheostomy Design: Specifically intended for use in pediatric tracheostomy applications
- Heat and Moisture Exchange Function: Helps enhance humidification by conserving heat and moisture during respiration
- Innovative T-Shaped Design: Supports optimal performance and ease of use in respiratory and anesthesia settings
- Low Airflow Resistance: Designed with a resistance of 0.25 lpm to support comfortable breathing
- Minimal Dead Space: 12 mL dead space helps optimize respiratory efficiency
- Effective Moisture Output: Provides 26 mL moisture output to help maintain appropriate humidity levels
- Lightweight Construction: Weighs approximately 4 grams for ease of handling and reduced airway load
- Standard Connector Compatibility: Features a 15 mm female connector for use with standard respiratory and anesthesia systems
- Versatile Clinical Use: Suitable for respiratory care and anesthesia applications in critical care environments
Intended Use:
The Ballard 500 Pediatric T HME is a single-use heat and moisture exchanger which transfers heat and humidity from the gas expired by the patient to the inspired gases. The Pediatric 500 T HME is intended for use on patients who are breathing spontaneously through a tracheostomy tube.
Contradiction:
Do not use the 500 Pediatric T HME on patients producing fulminating secretions in their airways and lungs.
Directions For Use:
- Change the HME every 24 hours, or sooner if necessary
- Not for use with nebulizers or active humidifiers
Cautions:
- During the use of the 500 Pediatric T HME, the patient should be closely monitored and proper airway care administered if complications arise.
- Before use, verify that the 500 Pediatric T HME has no occlusions and that air will flow through it.
Warnings:
The 500 Pediatric T HME is designed for single use only and must not be cleaned and reused.
