ManukaMed Manukapli Honey Wound Dressing is a sterile gel dressing formulated with 100% pure medical-grade active Leptospermum scoparium (Manuka) honey
with pH of 3.0-4.5 from New Zealand. It helps maintain a balanced moist environment that promotes wound healing. The high sugar content of the honey creates osmotic pressure, supporting autolytic debridement of necrotic tissue.
Features:
- Supports autolytic debridement of necrotic tissue.
- Lowers wound bed pH to optimize healing conditions.
- May assist in managing Acne and Hidradenitis Suppurativa.
- Provides sustained release of Manuka honey into the wound bed.
- Absorbs exudate and necrotic tissue into a separate applied dressing.
Indications:
- Venous Ulcers
- Diabetic Foot Ulcers
- Pressure Ulcers
- Arterial & Surgical Wounds
- Skin Tears
- Second Degree Burns
Contraindications: Do not use in patients with known honey sensitivity. Minor stinging may occur due to the osmotic action or low pH of honey. If pain persists, discontinue use and gently irrigate the wound with sterile saline solution.
Directions for use:
- Gently irrigate wound with a sterile wound cleanser or saline. Remove
the seal.
- Apply directly to the cleaned wound or suitable non-medicated or honey
coated primary dressing (e.g. an alginate, gauze, or absorbent pad)
- Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing, e.g. a film or island
dressing.
- Discard after use.
Dressing Change:
Depending on wound exudate, surrounding interstitial fluid, edema, and dressing protocol, Manukapli may require daily application. In exuding wounds, the dressing will be diluted by exudate and absorbed into the secondary dressing. Re-apply as necessary. Continuous use should not exceed 30 days.
Caution: Although no increase in blood sugar levels has been reported in diabetic patients using honey dressings, blood sugar should be monitored during use. Do not combine with other topical medications. Seek medical advice if the dressing does not support wound healing.
