No Wrong Side Application: Can be applied without worrying about orientation, enhancing ease of use.
Double-Sided Padding: Stretchable polypropylene padding is comfortable and can be easily opened for a custom fit.
Strong Lamination: Seven layers of fiberglass with center stitching ensure maximum strength and durability.
Resealable Clip: Preserves unused product, reducing waste and maintaining product integrity between uses.
Latex-Free: Safe for patients with latex allergies, as it is not made with natural rubber latex.
Product Composition:
The McKesson Casting Roll Form Splint is constructed from multiple layers of polyurethane-coated fiberglass, covered with air and moisture-permeable stretchable polypropylene padding. Exposure to moisture or water activates a mild exothermic reaction in the polyurethane, causing the splint to harden. The result is a lightweight, strong, and radiolucent splint.
Indications: Intended for use in the construction of common orthopedic splints, the McKesson Casting Roll Form Splint should be applied under the guidance of a qualified medical professional.
Usage Instructions:
Preparation: Follow standard procedures for site preparation, including wound management, fracture reduction, post-surgical care, and general patient supervision.
Measurement: Measure the patient for the desired length. Pull the estimated length needed from the dispenser and cut.
Preservation: Use the resealing clip to seal the remaining material in the dispenser box:
Push inner splint material several inches back into the protective foil.
Apply the resealing clip to the foil, ensuring the foil is smoothly flattened within the clip.
Seal by pushing the clip down tightly over the foil.
Activation: Remove the cut splint from the protective foil and discard the foil. Pull the polyurethane padding beyond the exposed fiberglass edges at both ends (top and bottom).
Wet the Splint: Wet the center of the splint with a 1” bead of cool water (65-75°F / 18-24°C) from a water bottle or faucet. Work the water throughout the splint by folding and squeezing (avoid wringing or twisting) to remove excess water.
Drying: Roll the damp splint in a towel and squeeze to remove additional moisture. Repeat as needed until the padding is virtually dry.
Application: Smooth out the splint and place it on the patient. Wrap with an elastic bandage and mold to the patient's limb for 2-4 minutes. The initial set time is approximately 3-5 minutes, with the splint gaining more strength over the next 20 minutes.
Monitoring: Monitor the patient according to standard procedures
