Maxorb Extra Ag Silver Alginate is a highly absorbent, nonwoven pad composed
of a calcium alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), and ionic silver. Exposure
to wound exudates dissolves the silver and stimulates the release of silver
ions. As more fluid is absorbed over time, more silver ions are released,
creating a controlled-release, antimicrobial effect. Plus Maxorb Extra
Ag releases silver in extremely small amounts that do not damage healthy tissue. It is biocompatible, nonirritating, non-sensitizing and will not harm new granulation tissue.
Each dressing contains nominally 5% by weight Silver Sodium Hydrogen Zirconium
Phosphate.
Features:
- Not made with natural rubber latex.
- Made up of CMC and calcium alginate for maximum protection and
absorbency.
- Ionic silver with controlled release aids in the control of bacteria.
- Reduces the chance of periwound skin maceration by maintaining the right
moisture balance.
- Antimicrobial silver aids in stopping bacterial growth in the dressing.
Indication: Suitable for moderate to heavily exuding partial to full
thickness wounds.
Contraindications:
- Third degree burns, dry or lightly exuding wounds
-
People who are known to be sensitive to alginates or silver

- Cover with an appropriate absorbent semi occlusive secondary dressing.
Instructions for Removal: Gently remove the dressing and the secondary
dressing from the wound. If needed, the dressing can be moistened to make
removal easier.
Change Frequency: Depending on the state of the wound and the volume
of wound exudate, dressing may be left in place for up to seven days.
Note: If required, dressing may be cut with sterile scissors.
Warnings:
- For external use only.
- Do not re-sterilize.
- Single use only.
