TheraHoney Foam Flex Honey-Impregnated Wound Dressing is an advanced dressing that combines flexible absorbent foam with 100% medical-grade Manuka honey derived from the Leptospermum scoparium plant. The honey provides osmotic activity that supports the natural healing process, while the foam absorbs exudate to maintain the optimal balance between moisture and absorption that is essential for wound healing.
Features:
- Not made with natural rubber latex.
- Flexible absorbent foam and 100% Leptospermum scoparium medical-grade honey.
- Maintains a moist wound environment that supports autolytic debridement of necrotic tissue.
- Honey helps control and reduce wound odor.
- Can be paired with an absorbent dressing and is compatible with most silver dressings and wound cleanser surfactants.
- Suitable for use as a primary dressing and effective across all drainage levels.
- Designed to maintain a balanced moisture environment conducive to faster healing.
Benefits:
- Dual-layer design continuously releases honey into the wound, balancing moisture and absorption for optimal healing.
- Helps minimize the risk of maceration.
- Eliminates the need for a secondary absorbent dressing.
Indications:
- Leg ulcers
- Pressure injuries
- First- and second-degree burns
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Surgical wounds, and trauma.
How to Apply:
- Remove dressing from package. Remove one piece of the release liner.
- Place dressing on the wound and remove the other release liner.
- Secure in place using tape or a secondary dressing.
Change Frequency: Dressings may need to be changed daily depending on wound exudate, surrounding interstitial fluid, edema, and clinical protocol.
Precaution:
- There is no record of increased blood sugar levels in diabetic patients using honey dressings; however, blood glucose should be monitored regularly during use.
- Some patients may experience temporary pain or stinging due to the osmotic action or low pH of honey. If pain persists, discontinue use and gently irrigate the wound with sterile saline.
