Description
NeoMed Enteral Oral Syringe is engineered to support precise fluid administration in neonatal and pediatric patients, serving as a dispenser, measuring device, and oral fluid transfer tool for use with extension sets and feeding tubes. Designed to enhance clinical workflow and promote safe enteral delivery, this single-use syringe helps reduce handling while maintaining measurement accuracy and compatibility with enteral-only connectors. Its pediatric-focused design, combined with optional barcode labeling for breast milk tracking through the NeoMed SafeBaby system, contributes to efficient inventory control and added safety in hospital and clinical environments.
Features:
- Single-Piece Molded Barrel: Promotes durability and helps minimize the risk of detachment during clinical use.
- Secure & Hygienic: Limits excessive handling while maintaining a secure seal during storage and warming.
- Cost-Effective: Economically priced compared to traditional oral dispensers or luer syringes used with adapters.
- Pediatric-Specific Design: Developed for neonatal and pediatric patients using extension sets or feeding tubes.
- Optional Barcode Label: Supports breast milk tracking with the NeoMed SafeBaby system to enhance patient safety.
Contraindications
The NEOMED Oral Syringe is intended for one-time use. Each syringe should be used for one dispensing and one patient.
Instructions
- Follow the physician’s instructions or hospital protocol when opening the package and using the contents. Apply aseptic technique at all times.
- Fully depress the plunger before filling the oral syringe, then draw liquid such as formula or mother’s milk into the barrel. For accurate measurement, use the black leading edge of the gasket toward the plunger tip. Measurement accuracy is ±4 % of the expelled volume. Do not fill or attempt delivery beyond the maximum graduation.
- To remove excess air bubbles, hold the syringe with the tip pointing upward and gently tap the side to move bubbles toward the tip. Draw back slightly on the plunger, then push upward to expel air from the barrel and tip. Repeat until bubbles are eliminated.
- Place the tip cap on the syringe and label until ready for use (label not included).
- Administer feeding through enteral-only connectors. This syringe is not designed for use with Luer connections. To help reduce the risk of clogging, thoroughly mix any supplements or additives to achieve a uniform consistency.
- Flush the syringe with water after use and dispose of it in a closed plastic bag or according to hospital protocols and local or national regulations. Do not autoclave or reuse the syringe, as this may increase the risk of leakage or biological contamination.
Warnings
Tip caps are a choking hazard. Keep out of reach of children.
