Description

Nutramigen Hypoallergenic Infant Formula

Nutramigen is a 20 Cal/fl oz, iron-fortified, lactose-free, hypoallergenic infant formula specially developed for infants with food allergies, including cow’s milk protein allergy. It contains extensively hydrolyzed casein protein, which is broken down into smaller components to help reduce allergen exposure and minimize immune system reactions. This specialized formulation supports gentle digestion while helping manage common allergy-related symptoms.

Features

Nutramigen is clinically proven to help manage colic related to cow’s milk allergy and supports overall comfort and nutritional needs in sensitive infants.

  • Lactose-free.
  • Volume: 13 oz.
  • Flavor: Unflavored
  • Made without artificial growth hormones.
  • Clinically shown to reduce eczema severity scores by 3 months.
  • Contains no added sucrose as a carbohydrate source.
  • Hypoallergenic protein source made with extensively hydrolyzed casein.
  • Includes expert-recommended DHA at 0.32% of total fatty acids, consistent with the worldwide breast milk average.

Product Long-Term Usage

Nutramigen is designed to provide a sole source of nutrition for infants up to 6 months of age and a major source of nutrition through 12 months of age. As infants grow, the gradual introduction of solid foods between 4 and 6 months is an important developmental and nutritional milestone.

In cases of severe or multiple food allergies and intolerances, Nutramigen may be continued beyond infancy as part of a medically supervised diet.

Extended use of Nutramigen as a sole source of nutrition should always be monitored under medical supervision.

Allergen Information: Nutramigen contains milk. Although it is hypoallergenic, rare allergic reactions to extensively hydrolyzed casein formulas have been reported.

Preparation

An infant’s health depends on carefully following all preparation instructions. Use only as directed by a medical professional. Proper hygiene, preparation, dilution, usage, and storage are essential when preparing infant formula. Parents should consult healthcare providers regarding appropriate formula selection, the use of cooled, boiled water, and sterilization of feeding equipment.

  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before preparation.
  • Clean the can lid, shake well, and open.
  • Pour the desired amount of water into the bottle. Add an equal amount of concentrated liquid. Shake or stir thoroughly.

Warning: Do not use a microwave oven to warm formula. Serious burns may result.

Failure to follow these instructions could result in severe harm. Opened cans and prepared formula can spoil quickly. Either feed immediately or store covered in a refrigerator at 35–40°F (2–4°C) for no longer than 48 hours. Do not use formula left unrefrigerated for more than 2 hours. Do not freeze prepared formula. Once feeding begins, use within 1 hour or discard.

Storage: Store unopened cans at room temperature. Avoid excessive heat. Do not freeze. Nutramigen may not look or taste like standard milk or soy formulas and may separate when refrigerated. Shake well before feeding.

Note:

  • Suitable when sucrose is not preferred.
  • No significant difference has been shown between milk derived from rbST-treated and non-rbST-treated cows.
  • Reduced crying in approximately 90% of infants within 48 hours when managing colic due to cow’s milk allergy. Studied before the addition of DHA, ARA, or LGG.
  • The World Health Organization recommends DHA levels of 0.2%–0.36% of total fatty acids. The average DHA content in worldwide breast milk is 0.32% ± 0.22%, based on an analysis of 65 studies involving 2,474 women.
