Portagen is a milk protein-based powder enriched with medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) for children and adults with defects in the intraluminal hydrolysis of fat (such as reduced pancreatic lipase activity or decreased bile salts), impaired mucosal fat absorption (including reduced mucosal permeability or decreased absorptive surface), and/or compromised lymphatic fat transport (including intestinal lymphatic obstruction). Portagen is not intended for use as an infant formula and should only be used under medical guidance.

Dilutions And Preparation

Preparation of Feedings:

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before preparing the formula. Pour the required amount of water into a suitable container. Add the appropriate amount of powder, cover the container, and shake vigorously until fully blended.

Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious health risks. Once prepared, the product can spoil rapidly. Either consume immediately or store covered in the refrigerator at 35–40°F (2–4°C) for no longer than 24 hours. Shake well before each use. Do not use the prepared product if left unrefrigerated for more than a total of 2 hours. Do not freeze the prepared product. Once feeding begins, do not refrigerate the container. Use within 1 hour or discard.

Use the following chart for the correct water-to-powder ratios. Use the scoop provided in the can to measure the powder. Store the dry scoop in its original container.

Both preparations will result in 30 Calories per fl oz of prepared product. For other volumes, prepare as directed by a doctor.

POWDER STORAGE: Store cans at room temperature. After opening the can, keep it tightly covered, store it in a dry area, and use the contents within 1 month. Do not freeze powder and avoid excessive heat.

Use-by date on the bottom of the can.
