Long-term Usage Guidelines

Pregestimil is formulated to serve as a sole source of nutrition for infants up to 6 months of age and as a primary source of nutrition through 12 months. As part of normal infant feeding practices, the gradual introduction of solid foods between 4 and 6 months is an important developmental and nutritional milestone.

For infants with chronic malabsorption disorders, Pregestimil may be continued as a milk substitute beyond 12 months of age. This extended use can contribute meaningfully to overall nutritional maintenance when appropriately managed. When used as a milk substitute, the total dietary calcium intake should be evaluated.

Preparation:

An infant’s health depends on following preparation and feeding instructions carefully. Use only as directed by a medical professional. • Inspect each bottle for any signs of damage.
• Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before preparation.
• Shake bottle well and remove cap.
• Attach nipple unit (not included).

WARNING: Do not use a microwave oven to warm formula. Serious burns may result.

Failure to follow these instructions could result in severe harm. Opened bottles can spoil quickly. Either feed immediately or replace cap and refrigerate at 35–40°F (2–4°C) for no longer than 24 hours. Do not use an opened bottle if unrefrigerated for more than a total of 2 hours. Do not freeze. Once feeding begins, use within 1 hour or discard.

Storage: Store unopened bottles at room temperature. Avoid excessive heat and prolonged exposure to light. Do not freeze. Pregestimil does not resemble standard milk or soy formulas and may separate during refrigeration. Shake well before feeding.
