Precautions

• Never use a microwave oven to warm formula. Serious burns can result.
• Powdered infant formulas are not sterile and should not be fed to premature infants or infants who might have immune problems unless directed and supervised by your baby's doctor.

Instructions for Use:

Your baby's health depends on carefully following these directions. Proper hygiene, handling and storage are important when preparing infant formula. Failure to follow these directions could result in severe harm. Consult your baby's doctor about the formula appropriate for your baby; the need to use cooled, boiled water for mixing powder; and the need to boil (sterilize) utensils, bottles, nipples and rings before use. It is important to consult your baby's doctor before changing formula.

Ready to feed formula if mixed with water may not provide proper nutrition and repeated use of such feedings could cause illness.

2 fl oz bottle

• Do not use if breakaway ring is missing or broken.
• Do not add water.
• Shake very well.
• Twist off cap.
• Twist on clean nipple and ring.
• Since this formula is commercially sterile, use clean hands to attach any clean standard nipple and ring. Use sterile nipple and ring if directed.
• No need to warm before feeding.
• Once oral feeding begins, use within 1 hour or discard.
• Do not reuse bottles.

1 QT bottle

• Do not use if band around cap or inner foil seal is damaged.
• Do not add water.
• Shake very well before each use. Remove protective band, twist off and clean cap.
• Invert cap; press down to pierce foil, then turn cap a half turn. Remove foil.
• Pour formula into bottle; attach clean nipple. Once feeding begins, use within 1 hour or discard.

Storage

2-fl-oz bottle

• Protect from light.
• Do not reuse this bottle.
• Store in carton until ready for use.
• Store unopened at room temperature; avoid extreme temperatures.

1-QT bottle

• Unopened Container: Store at room Temperature; avoid extreme Temperatures.
• Opened Container: Recap, refrigerate, and feed within 3 days.
• Prepared unfed bottles: cap, refrigerate, and feed within 2 days. Do not reuse container.

• Visual acuity measured at 4 and 6 months corrected age and assessed by VEP (visual evoked potential).
• Milk ingredients are derived from milk of non-rbST-treated cows, which is not different from milk of rbST-treated cows.
• Compared to infants fed a formula without DHA and ARA in a clinical trial with Similac Special Care and Similac NeoSure infant formulas with iron; prior to the addition of lutein.
