Description
Iodosorb Gel is a sterile antimicrobial dressing formulated with 0.9% Cadexomer Iodine. When applied to the wound, Iodosorb absorbs fluid, eliminating exudate, slough, and debris, and producing a gel on the wound surface. As the gel absorbs exudate, iodine is released to kill bacteria, and a noticeable color shift indicates when the iodine levels have been exhausted. Its three-in-one action eliminates bacteria, controls exudate, and debrides the wound bed. The solution is non-adhesive and latex-free, which allows for quicker dressing changes and less stress to the wound bed. Combine with Smith & Nephew Remove Adhesive Wipes to make dressing removal easier. It is capable of absorbing fluids up to seven times its own weight.
Features:
- Helps to enhance wound healing.
- Antimicrobial agents are effective.
- Exudate and detritus are removed efficiently.
- A color shift (white) suggests that Iodosorb should be replaced.
- Gel created on the site aids moist healing.
- Accelerated healing rates can result in quicker patient discharges.
Indications:
- Wet ulcers.
- Venous stasis ulcers.
- Pressure sores.
- Diabetic foot ulcers.
- Infected traumatic and surgical wounds.
Directions to use:
- Clean the wound and its surroundings with a moderate stream of sterile water or saline. Do not dry the wound's surface.
- Invert the cap to break the seal in the tube. Spread Iodosorb evenly to cover the entire wound. Larger amounts are unnecessary, but not problematic.
- With gloved hands, apply the prepared gauze to the wound.
Warning and Precaution: The total amount of Iodosorb used in one week must not exceed 5.3 oz (150 g), and a single application should not exceed 1.8 oz (50 g).
