Hartmann Sorbalgon Silver Calcium Alginate Dressing is an advanced wound care solution that combines the power of silver with the natural benefits of calcium alginate. Specifically designed by Hartmann for the management of exuding wounds. This dressing is a sterile, which absorbs wound exudate and releases silver ions in the dressing. As wound exudate is absorbed, the alginate forms a gel, which assists in maintaining a moist environment to help wound healing and allows intact removal. Total maximum amount of silver particles is 0.14mg/cm2. The dressing has a board spectrum of antibacterial effects and the silver protects the dressing from a broad spectrum of bacteria for up to seven days. This sterile ribbon dressing is engineered for efficiency and comfort during the wound healing process.

Indications:

 Sorbalgon AG is indicated for the management of moderate to heavily exuding partial to full thickness wounds, including:

• Postoperative wounds
• Traumatic wounds
• Leg ulcers
• Pressure ulcers
• Diabetic ulcers
• Graft and donor sites

Contraindications: Do not use Sorbalgon AG Calcium Alginate Dressings with Silver on patients who have a silver allergy.

How to apply:

1. Debride when necessary and irrigate wound site in accordance with standard protocols. Remove excess solution from surrounding skin.
2. Choose the appropriate size dressing to cover the wound. Dressing may be cut if necessary.
3. Cover and secure with a non-occlusive secondary dressing.
4. As wound exudate is absorbed, the alginate forms a gel, which assists in maintaining a moist environment and allows for intact removal.
5. Silver (Ag) ions are released in the dressing and provide a broad spectrum of antibacterial effects.
6. Dressing change frequency will depend on wound condition and is intended for use for up to 7 days.

How to remove:

• Gently remove the secondary dressing.
• If the wound appears dry, saturate the dressing with sterile saline prior to removal.
• Gently remove the dressing from the wound bed and discard.

Precautions:

1. This product is for single patient and for external use only.
2. Frequent or prolonged use of this product may result in discoloration of skin.
3. Sorbalgon AG Calcium Alginate Dressings with Silver are intended for use up to 7 days.
4. Do not use it if the pouch is damaged or opened.
5. Do not use this product on dry wounds without first donating moisture to the wound.
6. Do not use this product during radiation treatment or examinations, such as X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging [MRI], ultrasound or diathermy.
