KetoCal 4:1 Oral Supplement

KetoCal 4:1 Oral Supplement is a ketogenic formula with a 4:1 ratio (fat: carbohydrate + protein), that has been designed for individuals over 1 year old. KetoCal is recommended for the dietary management of intractable epilepsy and other epilepsy-related conditions. These include super refractory status epilepticus (SRSE), Dravet syndrome, glucose transporter type 1 deficiency syndrome (Glut1), and pyruvate dehydrogenase deficiency (PDHD).

KetoCal 4:1 LQ must be approved by your child’s doctor or dietitian. Do not make changes to your diet or your child’s diet before speaking to a clinician.

Preparations & Storage

Your healthcare professional will determine the right amount of KetoCal to consume based on age, weight, energy needs, and medical conditions.

Directions for Preparation and Use :

For Tube or Oral Feeding :

• Measure lukewarm water into a container with a lid. The recommended temperature of the water is 45°C – 50°C (113°F-122°F) for the powder to completely dissolve.
• To the warm water, add the prescribed amount of KetoCal 4:1.
• Cover and shake or stir the mixture until the full dissolution of the powder. KetoCal 4:1 is best served chilled for oral feeding.
• The prepared formula can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours. Once feeding has begun, use the mixture within one hour.

Recommended Precautions: Once combined, KetoCal 4:1 may separate. Simply shake or stir the mixture before serving. If using a feeding tube, it should be flushed with warm water (37°C) before feeding. It is recommended to flush the tube with warm water between each feeding to avoid blockage.

It is advised not to use boiling water when preparing the formula. Do not boil or microwave the formula.

Storage:

• It is recommended to store KetoCal 4:1 in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.
• Once opened, replace the lid and store it in the same manner.
• Do not store it in the refrigerator. Use within one month of opening.
