Mastisol is a liquid medical adhesive used to secure dressings, tapes, and certain medical devices over an extended period of time.
Features
- Reduce Cost: Mastisol can reduce product waste due to fewer unscheduled dressing changes resulting in overall supply cost savings and recovered nursing time.
- Increase Quality: Mastisol promotes compliance with CDC guidelines, reducing workflow disruption. It is clinically proven to improve the adhesive power of a variety of different adhesive tapes/dressings.
- Improve Patient Outcomes: Use of Mastisol reduces the likelihood of dressing displacement and device dislodgement creating a lasting occlusive barrier that minimizes the risk of infection. Mastisol is non-water soluble and secures even in moist or moisture-prone areas and is compatible with Chlorhexidine Gluconate
The use of Mastisol offers the following benefits:
- Low risk of adverse reactions and latex-free
- Compatible with chlorahexidine gluconate (CHG)
- Reduced likelihood of dressing displacement and device dislodgement
- Minimized risk of device-related infection by creating a lasting occlusive barrier.
- Improved nurse efficiency with reduced time associated with unplanned dressing changes.
- Versatility to improve the adhesive power of a variety of adhesive tapes, dressings, and, devices.
Instructions for Use - Security comes in four easy steps:
- Crack: Place an individual vial blister pack on a hard surface with the label facing down. Gently apply pressure to the vial through the blister pack to crush the inner ampule to release Mastisol.
- Peel: Peel back the lid of the blister pack and remove the vial using an aseptic technique.
- Apply: Turn the vial upside-down to dispense Mastisol onto the skin in a half-inch wide line. Apply Mastisol to the outside border of where the dressing will be placed, avoiding the area immediately surrounding the catheter insertion site. Allow Mastisol to dry completely, for approximately 20–30 seconds.
- Dress: Per facility protocol, apply the dressing to the skin, ensuring edges are in contact with Mastisol.
