Description
Indications for Use
This device is indicated for use as a dispensing, measuring, and fluid transfer device for oral or enteral administration. It is designed to deliver fluids into the body via non-intravenous routes. The syringe is intended for multiple uses in non-clinical settings and may be used by clinicians or laypersons across all age groups. This device is for single-patient use only.
Contraindications
- Not intended for use as a storage container.
- Not designed for use with infusion pumps.
- For oral/enteral applications only. Do not connect to small-bore connectors from other healthcare applications due to potential misconnection risk.
Discard the Syringe in Regular Household Waste When:
- The plunger becomes difficult to move.
- Use exceeds 20 cycles.
- Barrel graduations are no longer clearly legible.
- The black O-ring gasket appears distorted or damaged.
Cleaning Instructions
Clean the syringe thoroughly immediately after each use.
- With the syringe tip submerged in warm soapy (dish soap) water, move the plunger back and forth through the full length of the barrel at least three times.
- Remove the plunger from the barrel. Wash both components separately by hand using warm (43–49°C / 110–120°F) soapy water until all visible residue is removed. If residue remains, repeat the cleaning process using a soft-bristle brush to clean the plunger and the inside of the barrel. Avoid abrasive products on the outside of the barrel to prevent premature fading of printed markings.
- Rinse thoroughly until no soap bubbles remain. Allow both parts to air dry completely in a clean area before reassembling. Repeat cleaning if visible soil persists.
- Store the syringe in a clean, dry location.
Precautions
- Do not use if the syringe tip is visibly blocked, as this may result in inadequate fluid delivery.
- Do not use if the device is damaged, as this may cause contamination or improper performance.
- Do not autoclave or attempt to sterilize, as this may damage the syringe.
- Do not place in a dishwasher, as this may cause a malfunction.
- Use only the cleaning methods described above. Other cleaning agents may damage the device.
Warnings
- Failure to follow cleaning instructions may result in patient harm.
- Failure to discard the device as instructed may result in patient harm.
- Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use for nutrition or medication.
- Do not modify the device, as this may lead to leakage, inaccurate delivery, or patient harm.
- Avoid abrasive materials on the outside of the barrel to preserve printed graduations.
