NeoMed Enteral Oral Pharmacy Syringe with ENFit Connector is designed for precise dispensing, measuring, and fluid transfer in pharmacy settings. Intended for oral or enteral use, it supports safe fluid delivery across all age groups in both clinical and home care environments. The ENFit connector helps reduce the risk of misconnections, ensuring accurate and secure administration.
Features:
- ENFit Connector: Enhances patient safety by minimizing connection errors.
- Versatile Application: Suitable for use as a dispenser, measuring, and fluid transfer device.
- Safe for All Ages: Intended for use by clinicians or under supervision in all patient populations.
- Pharmacy Use Design: Optimized for dispensing and preparing medications in pharmacy settings.
- Oral & Enteral Compatibility: Designed specifically for non-IV use to promote safe administration routes.
Contraindications
This device is intended for oral / enteral applications only. Do not use this device with small bore connectors from other healthcare applications as it has the potential to misconnect.
Warnings
- For syringe size 6 ml and below, to ensure dose accuracy, the moat (See Figure 1) must be free of fluids prior to patient administration.
- The syringe is intended for one-time use. Each syringe should be used for one dispensing on one patient.
- Do not autoclave or re-use syringe as this may increase the risk of leakage or biological infection.
- Tip Caps are a choking hazard. Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not modify device as this may lead to leakage, inadequate nutrition delivery or patient harm.
- Do not use device if syringe tip is visibly blocked as this may lead to inadequate nutrition delivery.
- Do not use if device is damaged as this may lead to device contamination or inadequate nutrition delivery.
Instructions
- Follow physician's instructions or hospital protocol in opening package and use of contents.
- Always use technique that minimizes risk of infection. Syringe should be connected to a male ENFit compatible connector during filling and removal of air bubbles to reduce the risk of dosing volume inaccuracies.
- Fully depress the plunger before filling syringe. Draw liquid (e.g. formula or mother's milk) into syringe. For accurate measurement, use the black leading edge of the gasket toward the plunger tip. Do not fill and attempt delivery past the maximum graduation.
- To expel excess air bubbles, hold syringe with tip pointing up. Tap side of syringe to allow bubbles to rise toward tip. Draw back slightly on plunger, then push plunger upward to eject air in barrel and tip. Repeat until bubbles are eliminated and re-verify dose.
- For syringe sizes 6 ml and below, ensure the moat (See Figure 1) is free of fluids and re-verify dose (repeat as necessary).
- Secure the tip cap on the syringe and label until ready to use (label not included).
- Before feeding, to minimize potential for clogging, mix any supplements or additives thoroughly to achieve uniform consistency.
- For direct oral administration, DOSEMATE may be attached to syringe (sold separately) for patient comfort.
- Dispose of syringe as required by hospital protocols and local or national regulations.
