How Does It Work

• Easy To Use: Because the FLOWASSIST attachment is not tacky to handle it can be positioned more easily than regular seals.
• Assisted Flow: The Flowassist spout ensures that stoma output flows away from your skin, keeping it safe, healthy and comfortable.
• Secure Attachment: The Ostoform Seal has a unique positioning slot which ensures an accurate, secure attachment of your pouch. This practical design allows for the use of both regular and convex pouches resulting in a reduced risk of leaks.
• Longer Wear Time: Because Flowassist has been designed to protect the skin-friendly hydrocolloid from erosion, the Ostoform Seal can last longer than regular seals. This can provide longer appliance wear time and a reduced number of pouch changes.

Application Guide:

Step 1:

Wash your hands and ensure the skin around your stoma is clean and dry. Warm the Seal in your hands for 30 seconds and remove the paper liners.

Step 2:

Position the FLOWASSIST spout below the stoma or rotate to align with the opening of the stoma. You can hold the spout to help position the Seal.

Step 3:

Wrap the ends of the Seal adhesive around the stoma ensuring the ends overlap.

Step 4:

Prepare the pouch opening as per manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the FLOWASSIST spout is fully inside the pouch opening, then pull the 1-piece pouch (see figure 4A) or the 2-piece pouching system (see figure 4B) up underneath the spout, as far as it will go.

Step 5:

Apply light pressure to the pouch to achieve secure adhesion.

Step 6:

If possible, check that no part of the Seal adhesive is visible. If you notice that an area of the Seal adhesive is exposed, try to adjust the pouch to cover this area.

FLOWASSIST Seal recommend that you apply the FLOWASSIST Seal directly around your stoma to ensure a secure and accurate fit, though in some cases, the Seal may be applied to the pouch first.

What is the best way to handle the FLOWASSIST Seal?

FLOWASSIST recommend you begin by holding the spout and positioning the Seal accurately underneath your stoma. You can then mold, wrap and overlap the arms of the Seal around your stoma to ensure a snug and secure fit.

Should the FLOWASSIST Seal last longer than current regular seals?

Yes. Due to the non-absorbent spout protecting the absorbent seal, the FLOWASSIST Seal should last longer than regular seals. In a recent clinical study, 71% of participants stated that the FLOWASSIST Seal lasted longer than their current seal.

Will the FLOWASSIST Seal break down underneath my stoma?

The FLOWASSIST Seal is designed to minimize the risk of material breakdown by introducing a non-absorbent layer that directs the flow of stoma output away from your skin and into your pouch. This prevents it from being absorbed in towards your skin, as with standard ostomy seals.

Am I likely to experience much residue on my skin after removal of the FLOWASSIST Seal?
