Shear induced tissue trauma:
Under the downward pressure of the user’s weight, tissue is compressed in the vertical plane beneath the bony prominences, trapping the skin. As the body moves, mechanical shearing forces are generated along the horizontal plan, causing damage deep within the tissue
Vulnerable bony prominences:
Without effective shear-reducing intervention, the skin and deep tissues are vulnerable to shear induced trauma at the scapula, sacrum and heels. This is intensified when the head of bed is elevated, pushing the user toward the foot of the bed
Rotational Shear:
Even, rotational shear, caused when the user is pivoted from the lying to sitting position or vice versa is minimized by Shear Transfer Zones® technology
LifeSpan® Fortified Healthcare Fabric:
The cover’s enhanced features include the unique design of the anti-microbial bi-directional stretch cover made with Span’s superior LifeSpan® fabric.
LifeSpan® is extremely durable and cleanable and delivers outstanding resistance to chemical breakdown caused by bleach and other harsh disinfectants with its polycarbonate-fortified coating.
PressureGuard® Custom Care® Convertible Recessed Deck Model:
The recessed deck versions of selected Span surfaces, including the Custom Care Convertible, brings our advanced technology to recessed deck beds.Our engineers have developed a version of the Custom Care Convertible surface to accommodate the unique design requirements of recessed deck beds. V-shaped edges enable the mattress to fit the recessed deck bedframe, while the compressible section accommodates multiple lengths and foot positions.
Patented design creates an inner bolster “cradle” effect for added safety when the patient sits on or moves toward the bed edge. This protective feature helps direct the patient’s center of gravity safely back toward the center of the bed. Two sturdy fabric handles improve relocation ergonomics. - The manufacturer warrants PressureGuard Custom Care Convertible to be free from defects in materials and workmanship after purchase by the original consumer/owner.
- Mattress: 5 years, non-prorated.
- Control unit: 2 years, non-prorated.
- The manufacturer will replace the product if found defective within the warranty period.
- The warranty is not applicable to the damage caused by using unsuitable environmental conditions or failure to maintain the product in accordance with user and service instructions.
- Any alteration, modification, or repair will void the warranty. Normal wear and tear, consumer neglect and willful destruction are not cover under the warranty.
- Parts under warranty will be covered at no cost. Any labor cost for service under warranty is not covered as per our terms of sale.
