Vitaflo Glycosade Starch Oral Supplement

Vitaflo Glycosade Starch Oral Supplement is a hydrothermally processed high amylopectin cornstarch which is use in the dietary management of hepatic Glycogen Storage Diseases (GSD) where the use of a long acting cornstarch is indicated.

Preparation:

• Measure there required amount of  liquid into a container with a lid.
• Add the required amount of Glycosade to the container.
• Typically, a packet of Glycosade can be added to 120 ml (4 fl oz) of cold water or other suitable fluids.
• Close the lid tightly and shake until the powder is dissolved.
• Drink Glycosade straight away

NOTE: Donot heat or warm the Glycosade as this destroys the properties of the starch.

Precaution:

• For enteral use only.
• Not for use as a sole source of nutrition.
• Must only be given to patients with proven GSD under strict medical supervision.
• Glycosade may also be given through a feeding tube. Not intended for use as a continuous enteral feed. Administer as a bolus to prevent possible tube blockage.

Storage: Store in a cool dry place. Packets are designed for single use and should be used immediately once opened.

Unflavored - Ingredient: Cornstarch.
Lemon (artificially flavored) - Ingredients: Cornstarch, Natural and artificial flavor, Xanthan gum, Citric acid, Sucralose.
Osmolality:
Unflavored: 60 g (1 packet) + 120 ml (4 fl oz) water = 14 mOsm/kg
Lemon flavor: 60 g (1 packet) + 120 ml (4 fl oz) water = 19 mOsm/kg
